Dentist Business Cards for DDS DMD General and Cosmetic Dental Practice Professionals

Dentists are the primary oral healthcare providers who diagnose and treat diseases and conditions affecting the teeth, gums, jaw, and supporting oral and maxillofacial structures — providing preventive care (examinations, x-rays, cleanings/prophylaxis), restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, implants), cosmetic dentistry (veneers, whitening, bonding, smile design), endodontic treatment (root canals), periodontal treatment (gum disease), pediatric dental care, oral surgery (extractions, implant placement), orthodontic treatment (braces, Invisalign), and removable prosthodontics (dentures, partials).

What Dentist Cards Include

Your Credentials and Specialties

Academic degrees:

  • DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) — one of two equivalent doctoral degrees awarded by US dental schools; "DDS" after name is the primary professional designation; confers the same license and scope of practice as DMD
  • DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) — the other equivalent doctoral degree; some dental schools (Harvard, Penn, Tufts, University of Florida) award DMD instead of DDS; "DMD" after name; the designations are interchangeable in practice; approximately half of US dental schools award DDS and half award DMD
