Landscaper and Lawn Care Business Cards That Grow Your Client Base
Landscaping is a highly visual business in a highly local market. Your card needs to show your work, communicate your services, and travel easily through neighborhoods — because the best referral you can get is a neighbor handing your card to another neighbor.
What Works on a Landscaping Card
Service List — Be Specific
Landscaping covers a wide range of services. Don't make prospects guess:
Maintenance services:
- Lawn mowing and edging
- Fertilization and weed control
- Irrigation installation and maintenance
- Mulching and bed maintenance
- Seasonal cleanup (spring/fall)
Design services:
- Landscape design and installation
- Hardscape: patios, walkways, retaining walls
- Water features: ponds, fountains
- Plant installation and replacement
Tree services:
- Tree trimming and pruning
- Stump grinding
- Tree removal
- Arborist consulting
List the 3-5 services most relevant to your primary business focus. Too many reads as "we do everything" which reads as "we're not specialists at anything."
Seasonal Availability
If you offer year-round services, say it. If you're seasonal, tell clients what to expect:
- "Spring cleanup through fall leaf removal"
- "Year-round property maintenance"
- "Snow plowing available October–March"
Licensing and Insurance
Important for landscaping where equipment and proximity to structures create liability:
- "Fully Insured | Free Estimates"
- "Licensed Arborist" for tree services
- "Certified Pesticide Applicator" if you do fertilization/chemical applications
Design for Landscapers
Landscape Photography = Your Portfolio
A full-bleed before or after photo on the back of your card is extraordinarily powerful for landscaping. Show your best completed project. A stunning backyard transformation makes people pick up the phone immediately.
Colors
- Forest/hunter green: Traditional, trustworthy, obviously related to your industry
- Earth tones (terracotta, sand, brown): Natural, organic
- Bright green accent: Energy, growth
- Neutral base (white, gray) + green accent: Clean, modern
Seasonal Options
If you have seasonal budget, consider printing two card versions:
- Spring/summer version with lush green imagery
- Fall/winter version for snow removal/cleanup services
This isn't necessary, but for high-volume landscapers, seasonal relevance improves conversion.

The Neighbor Referral Design
The highest-value distribution strategy for landscaping: distribute to immediate neighbors of your current clients.
When you finish a job, go to 5 houses on either side and introduce yourself: "We just finished the [Smith] property at [address] — we're in the neighborhood, thought you might want a quote."
Your card design should support this: include a space for handwritten notes, or print with a "Quote for [name]" personalization option.
Card Durability
Landscapers hand out cards in outdoor, sweaty, sometimes dirty conditions. Your cards will get tucked into work gloves, pants pockets, and pickup truck cup holders. They need to survive:
- 16pt with matte laminate minimum — resists moisture
- 16pt with UV coating — fully waterproof in light rain
- Avoid uncoated stock — absorbs moisture and stains
